Strawberry fields foreva.

Such a beautiful sunny day today, I put a lot of young plants in, and protected them with netting, I have in no particular order:
Tomatoes (different colours)
Runner beans - Scarlet Empire,
Jersey walking cabbages.
And there's carrots in the ground.
For some reason. the broccoli didn't emerge.

There were a lot of crows going mental in the trees, and I saw a pretty little spider running off with her egg- sac.
Strawberries are looking good.

Keanu Feel It.

This morning we took the scarecrow I made, Keanu, down to the allotment where he shall live out the rest of his days.

Not much else happening there yet, there are a few onions poking their leaves out, and the raspberries are shooting up.

All ready for take off!

Yesterday I finished all the beds, I put all the debris into the old carpet, rolled it up and out a door on the top so make a 'sofa'

I put some stones around the strawberry bed, there are about 10 strawberry plants I found, and put some netting on the bean support.
And some support for the raspberries, some canes and some wires. I met a bloke called Tony who's plot this was before I got it, he's somewhere up the top now, and a nice lady called Kieron (I think) who's next to me.
Tony says I've done well, I think I have an `orl.
OK so the next thing is to get planting!
In the windows at home there are black tomato, Jersey cabbage, sweetcorn, runner beans callaloo and decorative gourds on the go, I'll be sowing pot marigolds poppies and some other flowers too, the onions are already in, so are the carrots.

The protective net arrived yesterday too, and there are some plastic hoops that came with the hoops so that's good to go. Through the gap in the trees there's big pond with a bridge over it. I saw a goose sitting on the bank putting twigs and grass on it's back (!?)

Allot done at the allotment!

I got a lot done yesterday, I made a little brick surround for... something or other, and cleared some more ground ready for planting. The trellis will be for decorative gourds, these things, you dry them out and use them as Christmas decorations.

Arkham has a look.

Yesterday I spent a while cutting down the raspberry canes, hopefully I did this right. I also cleared away a lot of weeds and bricks, the soil is really nice, not as clay-ey as ours at home. It rained a bit but I discovered I could just fit in the little square pallet box (arrowed).
Here's the plot and our dog, Arkham.

Frosty The Allotment.

Hello, my name is Karen and this blog is all about my new allotment. Here am I opening the gate, this took a while as it was stuck. Foxy opened it in the end. We have two keys, a 'gold' one for the gate... g for gate...and a 'silver' one for the shed....s for shed. Cunning.

Here is the magnificent allotment, number two. As you see, at the moment it is frozen solid. It's 100m square. Brilliant!
